[resolved] HL2DM Servers Not Working as of Anniversary Update

Hi, been playing HL2DM on your guy's servers for a long time now. Some friends and I tried to play it on Saturday, but we get the error message "The Server you are trying to join is on an old version of the game". This is a common problem in Source games when they update, the client has the new version of the game, but the host doesn't, so the connection is refused!

Just wanted to let the owners know that you will need to update your HL2DM servers to the new Anniversary update that came out Saturday or no one will be able to connect to the server.

Thanks for your help. I hope to be able to play Saigns dm_runoff again soon! You guys are great, and thanks for keeping HL2DM alive!

Thanks for letting us know, we will get this looked into today for you guys.

In the mean time, you will still be able to access and play on the Saigns servers by making a change in your settings, as follows...

Open your Steam Library and right click on the Half-Life 2:Deathmatch game, then select Properties.

Click on the Betas tab.

From the drop down menu at the top select steam_legacy - Pre-20th Anniversary Build.

Close that settings window and you will now be able to join and play as before.

I hope you guys will appreciate that this presents further challenges with updating the Saigns plugins to work with the new releases, I have no doubt that other server providers are facing the same challenges, so it may take some time. tF has been working hard on this today and we will endeavor to bring you updates.

I understand that. I appreciate the work you are all doing, it means a lot. Take your time with it, we can play on the beta branch until you figure it out. The fact that anyone even cares enough to do work like this on one of my favorite old games is really nice of you!

Please don't, the new update is terrible and most good players are complaining , the mechanic of the game are changed and it's really too bad for old players who are playing the game from 20 years only improvement they tried to do is graphics , but we don't want graphics at the expense of gameplay.

So let me guess, you dont like that they fixed exploits like getting out of bounds, you dont like that you cant get perfect accuracy with the AR2 anymore using autofire, and you dont like that spamming grenades with the gravity gun isnt as powerful, huh? because thats basically all that changed that affects gameplay, stuff that people could be a nuisance with. Have you actually even PLAYED since the update lol?
